Season Six Show No. 148 Inside Great Lakes Sailing - The Rust Belt 950 Sail Race

Show Details

With only one show left for 2025, we decided to put together two unusual conversations that are hyping some really cool ideas. First, we chat with the renowned Clark Chapin who recently promoted the idea of adding more judges for sailing racing. We called it One Judge-One Club and Clark corrected us and noted his editorial was 'Every Club Needs a Judge,' which is actually the same thing right? Anyway, we digress, but it's a really cool conversation with one of our favorite sailing historians. But more on that later. The transition from sail racing judges to long distant sail craziness was only one-step away after talking with Minneapolis-based Jeff McPheeters, who wants to run a 950-mile sail race from Chicago to Buffalo in the summer of 2027. The race would certainly be for sail boats, but the race is expected to attract canoeists, paddlers and anything on water that does not have a motor. Jeff will try to explain the Rust Belt 950, which is still in the planning stages. We hope you stay tuned and we will chat with the new Megles owners next week for the last show of 2025. Please enjoy.
